Imane Khelif’s Olympic Boxing Controversy Ignites Debates Among Streaming Community
Many streamers and internet personalities have made comments on the Imane Khelif gender controversy at the 2024 Summer Olympics, with most disagreeing with her inclusion.
The controversy only really started in full once Khelif dominated the Italian Angela Carini, who quit just 46 seconds into their match. In said match, Khelif completely dominated the ring and threw several punches much harder than the Italian could handle.
For those who may be unaware, Khelif was banned from participating in the IBA in 2023 after failing a gender test and having much higher levels of testosterone in her system. Her passport still showcases her as a female; however, with her DSD, she has XY chromosomes and testes despite having female genitalia.
Due to the difference in bone density, testosterone, and a range of other things, many streamers have weighed in, stating they believe her inclusion in the 2024 Summer Olympics is unfair.
This belief has only been solidified with time, as Khelif is now making her way to the gold medal match.
What Have Streamers Been Saying About the Imane Khelif Drama?
Following the fight, there was an outcry from a number of creators, both small and large, with the majority agreeing with the public consensus; it was unfair to let Khelif fight.
One of the largest faces to comment was Andrew Tate, who made several remarks about this being “karma” for women complaining about the patriarchy and “pretending” to be men.
On X, Andrew said:
“TBH, maybe this is Karma for chicks constantly crying about the patriarchy and pretending they can do everything a man can do. Girl, boss your way out of this one. Igor the destroyer (she/her), is here to fight.”

Sneako also commented alongside Tate, saying:
“N**ga won a gold medal for domestic violence with a referee. Transgenderism is so retarded it’s hilarious.”

It wasn’t just the “manosphere” commenting on the drama either; big faces like XQC also chimed in, agreeing that the Algerian boxer should not be allowed to compete with females.
XQC stated:
“There’s a bunch of regulations with weight and a bunch of stuff to make it so that it’s safe, people don’t get injured dramatically, people don’t get injured dramatically, and people don’t f*cking die.”
However, there were many streamers on Khelif’s side, especially those on the more left-leaning side of the internet, like HasanAbi and Destiny.
HasanAbi, in particular, called out everyone on the matter, stating that this entire ordeal was plain “transphobia.”
On his stream, he said:
“Transphobia is a legitimate brain disease that eventually causes people to suspect everyone of being trans. We are watching that happen in real time on a website run by a transphobic deadbeat dad freak. This harms trans women AND ciswomen.”

HasanAbi is by no means new to this debate, as he’s gone on record denouncing what he views as “transphobia” on a number of occasions.
Despite Hasan’s claims, though, many of the comments were not entirely hateful, instead simply stating they don’t wish to see women get pushed out of their own sports by people biologically built to be stronger.
