Criticism Brews as the Streamer Awards 2024 Prepares for December 7 Return
Just like in past years, there has been some drama surrounding The Streamer Awards, specifically with the selections for different categories. QTCinderella, the founder and producer for the event, is not new to drama by any means, dealing with this backlash expertly in years past and has continued to do so in late 2024.
Ever since the first iteration of the event, where Ludwig, her long-time boyfriend and fellow streamer, won the Streamer of the Year Award, people have had beef with the results.
In response to claims about her favoring friends, she tweeted:
”My god people if I wanted to give my friends awards I would have them over for Christmas dinner. I wouldn’t spend months out of my life to do it. Notice how NONE of the streamers nominated are upset. THEY ARE EXCITED OR FLATTERED. It’s people fighting battles no one asked you to fight that are upset. I love that you care I really really do, but it’s exhausting. This is the last time I’ll speak on it. Excited for the show this year. Excited to see so many new faces. Excited to spend 1 night highlighting the industry.”
It’s just math. based on the number of events alone, there will always be some fanbases that feel their comfort streamer should have won. 27 awards and hundreds of thousands of great streamers—the numbers just don’t match up. And most content creators understand this; even if they didn’t get a nomination, Esfand even tweeted at her, saying:
“What is there even for people to be weird about? I don’t understand.”
Who Are the Streamer of the Year Frontrunners?
While there are many awards to be won, the biggest of the night is easily The Streamer of the Year award.
PirateSoftware
PirateSoftware is a hilarious computer whiz that combines humor with an understanding of gaming and the world of tech, unlike really anybody else in the world of streaming. His clips often go viral for explaining everything from how virtual machines work to deep insights into drama in the world of games and technology.
Emiru
Emiru is easily one of the fastest-growing personalities on the internet, quickly outgrowing the misconception that she was just a girl who hung around Mizkif. With a unique blend of comedy and a knack for keeping chat engaged for hours, she pulls in thousands per stream.
IShowSpeed
IShowSpeed only continues to grow bigger and bigger every year, coming a long way from the days of lighting fireworks in his mom’s house. 2024 was a massive year for the streamer, jumping over supercars, racing NFL runningbacks, and even causing a riot in Denmark.
Caedrel
Caedrel, a former professional League of Legends player and caster, is now a popular Twitch streamer. Caedrel’s engaging personality and passion for the game have made him a beloved figure in the League of Legends community.
Kai Cenat
Kai Cenat is a real pop culture icon at this point, with the biggest names in music popping up on his stream left and right. Every moment of every stream is filled with craziness, there is never a dull moment.
