Ice Poseidon’s Hunger Games: Fair Play or Controversy?

Kick streamer Ice Poseidon decided it would be a good idea to put on a 50-person IRL Hunger Games with $100,000 as the grand prize, but the event eventually led to a slight controversy over the winner.

For those who may not know, the real-life Hunger Games event involved 50 streamers engaging in combat with a “health” bar being tracked by a server and bodysuit, where if you take enough damage, you’re out.

Chatters got to watch their favorite streamers screaming, running, and getting dirty for the grand prize. And throughout the majority of the event, things went off without a hitch, the system worked, and the stream was great.

However, at the very end of the stream, things went wrong between EsaiGivens and Taemin1988. When the two clashed to see who would be the winner, there seemed to be some delays in the “health” tracking, leading Esai to be prematurely crowned the winner.

Esai vs Taemin – What Happened?

The streamers Esai and Taemin went at each other’s throats with riot shields and weapons for the final battle, where, upon first inspection, it looked like Esai won with a single hitpoint. However, as we just mentioned, that was a server-side error.

In reality, Esai lost by a fair margin, with Ice himself mentioning that the web page wasn’t updating to what the server was saying. According to Ice Poseidon himself, Esai was actually dead several minutes before the eventual winner, Taemin.

Ice Poseidon took to X/Twitter following the event, saying:

“After reviewing the server data for the hit detection vests, I unfortunately have to overturn the win. The last man standing with health left was actually Taemin the Korean for the 100k win. Because I screwed up by not looking at the correct data during the fight, Esai gets 50k for 2nd.”

How Chat Reacted

Ice Poseidon really did mess up when reading the data during the Hunger Games event, but his fans haven’t been as nearly as hyper-critical as one would think. The usually edgy streamer had a ton of support from his chat, with many dismissing everything as a simple mistake.

However, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, as some chatters had some hate for Ice Poseidon despite his best efforts. Several X users called out the gear used as “Temu vests,” and others like Pale_Girl05 said “gay ending to a gay show that I didn’t bother watching past the first day. When is fishtank s3.”

For now, it seems like Ice Poseidon has some grace from the majority of fans, especially considering how successful his scavenger hunt was in June, but he better keeps the quality of his next streams quite high.
