TwitchCon 2024 San Diego: Key Highlights, Controversies, and Drama

San Deigo Twitchcon 2024 ended on September 22, giving us a ton of great clips, drama, and content overall. From Hasan’s debate to XQC getting harassed by a known Kick streamer, the event was anything but boring.

Join us as we take a look through the most memorable moments of the weekend, breaking down exactly what happened.

Twitch Rivals

San Diego’s main Twitch Rivals event was an MCC tournament with a ton of big names competing for the grand prize.

The event was a resounding success overall, with tons of competitive teams vying for victory. But in the end, it came down to two teams, the Yellow Yaks and Red Rabbits playing dodgeball as usual.

The Rabbits took the first round and then the yaks took the second and third putting them at game point. However, streamer Shadoune66 clutched a sick 2v1 to push the Yaks to a tie-breaker round which the Rabbits inevitably won.

Hasanabi’s Debate Lords

Hasan held what was probably the funniest event during TwitchCon – a “political” debate event showcasing some of the biggest names in streaming. The lineup included debaters bbno$, Carolinekwan, Cyr, Jasontheween, and Nmplol, all of which are creators outside of bbno$.

The debate was absolutely hilarious all the way through, with Hasan himself getting pied in the face near the end.

Some of the more notable debates included Cyr arguing for the best type of cracker, Jasontheween answering “fuh dat bih” to a question, and Cyr again talking about increasing crime in Vice City with cocaine.

All in all, it was a great show that kept us laughing for the entire two hours it was going on; it might have been better than the Trump vs. Biden debate.

Nmplol, XQC and others harassed

Mizkif, Nmplol, and XQC all had run-ins with a particularly unsavoury Kick streamer named DBR666. The streamer has been known in the past to start drama and even fight with others, but how he acted at TwitchCon was another level of crazy.

In Mizkif’s case, he was just chatting with Lacy, Jasontheween, Emiru and a couple of others when DBR666 came up and started making crazy noises and faces. He then went on to state that Mizkif was “made” by Ice Poseidon and told him to “suck my d*ck”.

Nmplol didn’t have any better luck, with interaction so odd it’s comical; the guy ran up to him and started biting his nipple before licking his friend’s hand. Nmplol then took to X/Twitter, stating:

“Holy f*ck that was weird don’t ever do sh*t like that, please. Talk to somebody or just stay inside if you can’t behave.”

Lastly, XQC unfortunately also saw the guy outside of TwitchCon where he instantly said “XQC, I need to suck his d*ck.” he then got on his knees and moved towards XQC, prompting him to run away.

N3on Banned from TwitchCon

Aside from the aforementioned weirdo, DBR666, who was quickly banned from TwitchCon, N3on was also unfortunately banned from the event after an awkward interaction with a Twitch staff member.

N3on met an individual by the name of “Vightingale” who promptly stated “their” preferred pronouns, but he decided to call him “man.”

This disappointed the other streamer, who then said:

“ You should be sorry because I told you my pronouns, mistakes happen but like these are the types of situations we run into and I appreciate that we’re both streamers right? But like, what’s your angle?”

After some more back and forth, N3on then refused to shake their hand, instead fist bumping and calling them by masculine pronouns as soon as he was out of earshot.

This all led to his ban not only from TwitchCon but also from Twitch as a whole – and adding insult to injury he got served court papers by Fousey later that same day.
