Asmongold Sounds Off: Are Nuisance Influencers Exploiting Japan for Clout and Chaos?

Famous Twitch streamer Asmongold called out Keemstar, asking him to change the contents of a tweet after posting a video with the caption, “Americans are being attacked in Japan because live streamers have been causing so much disturbances.”
What happens when streamers cross borders? @Asmongold calls out @KEEMSTAR for misrepresenting the Kick drama in Japan! 🇯🇵💥
The drama started with a clip of GaganTV and LordHito getting into it with locals. Keemstar said Americans were being attacked because of past streamer… https://t.co/rBM1YgbLqQ

In the video, you can see a Japanese man wielding an empty bottle and swinging it at the two streamers. However, interestingly, you can hear one streamer mention that he was “coming back,” likely returning after the duo had been harassing people.
Asmongold backed up this claim, stating that it was actually the Kick streamers themselves who were in the wrong for the attack, as they had been intentionally harassing and antagonizing local residents.
Asmongold thinks Keemstar should offer a correction to this post because Kick streamers were apparently in the wrong
“They caused the problem and then posted the clip of them being attacked…Keem gotta do an update on this”
Says otherwise Keemstar has done a “pretty good job” https://t.co/1MlrapXfg4 pic.twitter.com/Y6lNnTwT8b

He didn’t outright hate on Keemstar, even giving him some props for reporting rather fairly. It was just the verbiage used to describe the altercation. He said:
“I think Keem has done a pretty good job. Like, yeah, he might report some bullsh*t, right? But he tries to be fair. I think he has done better. And that’s just me, that’s just me. That’s what I think; that’s my opinion.”
Nonetheless, this does beg the question of whether these types of streams should be allowed to continue, as evidently, it’s unhealthy for both the locals and streamers themselves.
The Johnny Somali Saga
Johnny Somali is a name known by many at this point, as he’s become the poster boy for this absurdist style of streaming, even getting arrested and held in South Korea.

For those unaware, Somali made a name for himself, attempting outlandish acts like getting in people’s personal space, screaming in their faces, and even kissing monuments to dead soldiers. He antagonized people throughout Asia, finally being stopped by South Korean lawmakers who have held him in the country while awaiting trial.
However, in a recent video, Somali has pivoted away from his previously apologetic stance, instead stating that he was a member of CX, a relatively dead streaming group that once involved Mizkif.
He stated:
“I am part of the criminal nuisance livestreamer gang called CX. I am a high-ranking member of the black sheep family, and we are run by our top leader, Ice Poseidon. He’s the leader of CX, and Mizkif is the leader of OTK. We are part of a livestreaming international criminal mafia of nuisance streamers.”
Now, this is evidently further bait, as Mizkif and Ice Poseidon had a falling out years ago with little to no contact; however, it’s telling of Somali’s character that he is attempting to bring down innocent streamers.
Ice Poseidon may have had a somewhat checkered past, starting the trend of getting swatted for IRL streams, but he has been clean as of late.
Somali is clinging onto any shred of fame he has at this point, stooping lower than most thought possible, but even worse, he could ruin the outlook for IRL streams in Asia for years to come.
The Future of International Streams
Honestly, the future of international IRL streams isn’t looking too bright, especially for those looking to go to South Korea, as this upcoming trail could set a precedent for what’s to come.
There have simply been far too many foreigners taking advantage of East Asian cultures that are oftentimes less confrontational, using it to get clicks and views. It could very well see many streamers banned from nations. With people like Somali cussing out locals and calling random women “Chinese ass b*tches,” most average people wouldn’t even blame them.
No matter how many comfort streamers and creators, like OTV, visit the country peacefully, one bad apple could really ruin the bunch here. The goodwill towards streamers is running out fast.
Hopefully, Kick, Twitch, and other media platforms can find a way to disincentivize what has caused this trend. Otherwise, a reckoning could be coming.
