Biography & Background of Ibai Llanos
Born March 26, 1995, in Bilbao, a city in the Basque Country of northern Spain, Ibai Llanos Garatea had an overall decent childhood. According to Ibai, his early life was marked by the 2008 financial crisis, which brought a ton of stress to his house and caused his parents to be rougher on him. Seeking an escape, the youngster found a safe space in the world of videogames, a hobby that would unknowingly make him millions of dollars later in life; who would’ve thought playing online games would eventually make him one of the richest streamers in the world.
Ibai didn’t immediately start creating content as a kid; instead, starting in 2014 at the age of nineteen. Along with his friend Ander Cortés, he started casually commentating on League of Legends matches for fun, making jokes about their bronze-level gameplay. This laid-back approach helped him gain quite a bit of traffic in the early days, especially amongst his smaller circle.
However, his big break came when he decided to take a leap and participated in a casting call for the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP), Spain’s premier esports league. This lucky break completely turned his life around. He impressed everyone, quickly being placed as an official commentator for his first professional League of Legends match in August of 2014.
From that point on, Ibai exploded in popularity in the Spanish-speaking community, as his unique casint style and humour made him a relatable character, resonating with more people every day.
It also didn’t hurt that he had become a prominent figure in the Spanish League of Legends esports scene, commentating on national, European, and international competitions for LVP.
In 2016, he made the decision to get away from his parents and move to Barcelona. He felt the larger city would help his career in the long run, but it was there that he decided to go further than just casting.
He started branching out first by co-hosting a late-night show called “Hoy no se sale” on the Ubeat network. This would change everything for Ibai, as he was able to connect with a truly massive audience and even sign with G2 Esports for a time.
The following year, in January 2021, Ibai took an even bolder step, announcing his departure from G2 Esports to launch his own independent streaming brand. This time, he didn’t have to worry about being a brand risk by saying anything wrong, instead gaining complete creative control.
The peak COVID area also saw the rise of his popular interview series “Charlando tranquilamente” and the beginning of his large-scale, record-breaking live events.
Games Streamed & Style on Twitch
Ibai’s streaming style resonated with the Spanish-speaking community, especially with his naturally funny personality that can sometimes be quite out there. He usually tries to create a relaxed and conversational atmosphere, using his chat as a crutch when he doesn’t know what to say.
When he isn’t having a laugh with chat, he’ll stream any number of popular games, including GTA V, Minecraft, FIFA, League of Legends, etc.
However, gaming is just one facet of his channel. Ibai is equally known for his talk shows (“Charlando tranquilamente”), large-scale, self-organized events like “La Velada del Año” (influencer boxing) and “Disaster Chefs” (cooking competition).
Scandals
While Ibai is by no means a controversial streamer, he’s bound to mess up here and there, and he has. Here is a list of his popular scandals:
Lionel Messi “Son of a B*tch” Moment (October 2023): During the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony, Lionel Messi jokingly called Ibai a “son of a b*tch” live on stream which really made fans mad. This happened after Ibai had shared a private text conversation he’d had with the football star.
Real Club de Polo de Barcelona Incident (April 2025): A video Ibai Llanos shared from inside the exclusive Real Club de Polo de Barcelona caused a pretty big issue. The club was supposed to be elitist, not allowing any recordings or images.
Anuel AA’s Performance at La Velada del Año (July 2024): The Puerto

Rican artist Anuel AA, who was the closing act at Ibai’s “La Velada del Año,” arrived late and had vocal issues during his performance. He later blamed Ibai and the event organizers, claiming they sabotaged his show.
Ibai and Mr. Beast
Ibai Llanos and Mr. Beast first met when Ibai had the opportunity to tour Mr. Beast’s offices. Ibai documented his visit in a video, going through Mr. Beast’s set, and looking into how he made his large-scale content.
Following this, Mr. Beast also invited him to a few of his content creator challenges, where he was pitted against other large streamers and YouTubers. His biggest role was in a large-scale hide-and-seek game.
Will Smith & Dua Lipa Moments
Ibai has had several run-ins with big-time celebrities; the largest being with Will Smith.
He met Will during his fourth edition of “La Velada del Año” in July 2024. The event, which was held at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, broke Twitch viewership records with an absolutely insane 3.85 million concurrent viewers. During the stream, Will Smith sang the Fresh Prince of Bel Air in Spanish. He also made waves by teasing a Dua Lipa appearance for his Evening of the Year 4 event, where he uploaded a photo of the internationally known artist.

However, based on his social media presence, this could very well be a joke on social media to simply build hype. Ibai is known to sneak things from his fans, so we really don’t know.
Streaming Schedule & Platforms
Ibai doesn’t have consistently scheduled streams, but usually goes live on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The times will vary.
