Nickmercs Outraged by N3on’s “Horrible” Clickbait Content
Popular Streamer Nickmercs spoke out on the terrible clickbait content that has been going around the streaming space, mainly calling out N3on and Jack Doherty. For those who may not know, the two are famous for making annoying and oftentimes fake content. to trying to stay relevant.
Nickmercs went onto the Bussin With The Boys podcast and expressed his distaste for the content style and N3on in particular.
He said:
“I hate the kid. He goes around with bodyguards, and he’s like purposefully provocative, and then when it’s ready to happen the bodyguards come in and save the day.”
Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, the hosts of the podcast, also agreed with Nickmercs, stating that they didn’t really understand the “follow me around” content that N3on pumps out.
Nickmercs also commented that this isn’t necessarily just an issue with N3on, instead blaming the upcoming generation of streamers. He said:
“ There’s a new era of like content creation, and you’re seeing it.” and “It’s this like, anything for clicks and clips, and when I say anything, he literally threatened Trump’s life.”
Nickmercs also had a lot to say about Jack Doherty, stating that his father needed to hit him upside the head. Nick then went on to say:
“If you’re now in a position, you are obligated to act a certain way. That’s it, I don’t care if you’re young.”
These days, most kids want to be social media influencers when they grow up, so trends like these are setting a bad precedence and role model for some of those kids to follow.
Issues With Clip Farming in General
Clip farming, or as Nickmercs puts it, “clickbait content” has taken over streaming, with the biggest names oftentimes staging events to get specific soundbites and reaction clips. The FaZe boys JasonTheWeen, Lacy, and Ronaldo, are all perfect examples of this trend, oftentimes doing out-of-pocket things for fame.
Ronaldo screamed into his mic while singing on Fortnite for years, and Jason literally started his career acting like a kid and dating people for clout, and they’re both huge nowadays.
Simply put, the strategy works, at least to get people into your stream, to begin with, keeping them there is a whole other issue.
From a fundamental level, streaming just isn’t the same as when Nickmercs started, most people get big from TikTok or Instagram Reels instead of organically finding your channel. If you can make a catchy 15-30-second soundbite or make content cringe enough to catch people’s eye, you have a shot at getting big.
That being said, this style of clickbait content makes for a rather boring stream overall, as streamers like N3on will sit around reading chat for hours until going berserk in public or starting drama.
Luckily, N3on’s average viewers do reflect this, as he struggles to keep a sizable audience, especially after Kick went after all of the viewbots. Despite pulling in millions of clicks on social media for his antics, it really hasn’t translated to his stream.
