New AI Moderation Tool on Kick: Is This Good For Streamers or Is Kick Going Woke?
Kick is looking to clean up its platform going forward, unveiling a brand new AI moderation tool on the streaming platform. Twitch’s edgy sibling, Kick, is finally cleaning up at least a little bit for the streamers who wish to moderate their chats and stop the hate from flowing.

This move follows a particularly brutal summer with tons of view-botting, toxic content, fights, and overall drama.
In an August 10, 2024 update to the platform, the new AI-powered moderation tool was launched, with the ability to use machine learning. In Kick’s words, the AI has the ability to “detect potentially harmful or unwanted messages based upon your community preferences.”
Edward Craven, Kick CEO, talked about the new AI tool, stating:
“This is optional for all channels, but I would recommend everyone at least test this feature.”
Within the Kick dashboard, streamers have several moderation options available to them now, with very different levels of filtering depending on the community. Streamers on Kick could simply set it to ban mentions of firearms and drugs, or simply stick to harmful slurs if they want.
On top of just monitoring content as a whole, streamers will also be able to choose a filtration level, those being “no filtering,” “some filtering,” “more filtering,” and “max filtering.”
Whenever Kick’s AI moderator flags a message, it will instantly be deleted, with a “deleted by AI” label taking its place in chat.

This new AI Moderation Tool allows Streamers to customize their level of Chat Moderation. You have a few options in which you can change things individually or by Level (Level 3 is Max Filtering).

“Woke” Backlash Against AI Moderation From the Kick Community
Following the AI moderation update, many streamers and community members commented that the platform was on its way to becoming “woke.”
One clip channel, @Kick_Champ even said:
“L, Twitch 2.0. Yall are soft now, you have nothing that stands out from other platforms… WE WANT FREE SPEECH.”
In response to this, Kick Employee Andrew Santamaria said:
“You can still have all this stuff in your stream, within reason. If you want to be what you consider ‘woke,’’ put the filters on. If you want to be degen, don’t put the filters on… If you like to have weapons in your chat, you just put no filtering. If you want to talk about shotguns and whatever else, just click it away.”
That being said, it wasn’t all negativity coming from the Kick community, as several streamers took to X, showing their support for the update. In particular, many female streamers showed a ton of support, as they face almost constant harassment on the platform.
For example, Kick streamer Kiaraakitty responded to the AI moderation tweet, stating, “ Eddie is honestly the best <3.” and streamer MsSavage said, “Kick keeps winning <3 thank you for hearing us.”
All in all, it seems to be a positive move for Kick, as the change doesn’t really push anyone away, even the most fringe streamers. If you want to keep your chat toxic, you are 100% able to and are supported in your actions.
